How Porcelain Veneers Can Make Your Dream Smile Come True

Dental veneers have a reputation as Hollywood’s go-to smile solution. It is true that many movie stars and others in the public eye choose this procedure to achieve stunning, natural-looking smiles. However, it is a myth that those benefits are out of reach for the rest of us. The reality is that porcelain veneers are affordable, convenient, and available right here in Pflugerville, TX.

Benefits of Porcelain Veneers

  • Close wide spaces between teeth
  • Correct the appearance of mildly crooked teeth
  • Change the size or shape of teeth
  • Cover permanent stains or naturally dark tooth enamel

Porcelain veneers may be used to rapidly cover chips and stains on your enamel, improve worn down or misaligned teeth, and fix teeth that are unevenly shaped or spaced. At Elite Smiles of Pflugerville, your porcelain veneers will be custom-made to fit comfortably over your teeth for an attractive and natural look. During your consultation, Dr. Jordan Tucker and his team will listen to your objectives and expectations so they can personalize your treatment. Dr. Tucker and the team may also find out whether you are a good candidate for porcelain veneers by assessing your overall oral health. You should not have symptoms of gum disease or routinely grind your teeth and clench your jaw.

Why Choose Porcelain Veneers from Elite Smiles

Porcelain is a superb cosmetic dental material, which is more natural-looking and long-lasting than composite veneers. However, not all porcelain veneers are the same. The quality of the result is directly linked to the skill of the clinician. In addition to extensive general and cosmetic dental training, Dr. Jordan Tucker had the unique opportunity to study under a renowned dentist whose practice was limited to exclusively porcelain veneers, Dr. Tucker learned not only advanced clinical skills but also the power of beautifully designed veneers to change lives.

We have all seen the dramatic aesthetic transformation and increased confidence that people experience after undergoing cosmetic surgery such as a facelift or nose job. Imagine achieving that level of transformation with a single, nonsurgical, conservative dental procedure. That is what our porcelain veneers can do.

About the Procedure

No matter whether you are getting porcelain veneers for small teeth, stains, or another problem, the process is similar. Due to being custom-made and ultra-thin, porcelain veneers require very little tooth preparation. Your dazzling new smile is created in just a few steps:

  • During the first appointment, your teeth are prepared, and temporary veneers are placed. This only takes a couple of hours and provides some immediate aesthetic improvement.

  • It takes about two weeks for the dental laboratory to custom craft your final veneers. When they are ready, you will return to our office. Dr. Tucker will remove the temporaries and “try in” the final veneers to ensure that they meet your and his standards. The veneers are then cemented into place.

Since getting veneers normally doesn't require anesthesia, you should be able to get back to your daily activities after your appointment. You may experience sensitivity to hot and cold food for a couple of days, but that should fade away. Veneers should be cleaned like your own natural teeth with daily brushing and flossing. While porcelain veneers are stain-resistant compared to natural enamel, you still need to avoid staining food and drinks to keep your smile bright. To avoid harming your veneers, you shouldn't chew on hard objects, such as ice or your fingernails. You should also continue to have dental examinations and cleanings at Elite Smiles of Pflugerville so we can track the condition of your veneers, teeth, and overall oral health. Dr. Tucker will tell you in the future if your veneers will need to be replaced or repaired.

I started seeing Dr. Tucker back in 2018 in Temple when I started considering improving my smile. I had a lot of fillings as a kid that were now cracked teeth needing addressed first. Dr. Tucker did an amazing job fixing everything, and saved me a ton of money. He started his own office about an hour away from where I lived shortly after completing my work. Once I was ready to start the cosmetic work I went to 3 different dentists in my area who were okay, but I didn't feel great about moving forward with them so i decided to make the drive to see Dr. Tucker and he literally changed my life! I am in love with my my new smile and grateful for Dr. Tucker!

About Us
Are porcelain veneers bad for your teeth?

No, when applied by an experienced practitioner like Dr. Tucker, porcelain veneers are a very safe and effective method of achieving a beautiful new smile. If too much enamel is removed or the porcelain veneers are incorrectly placed, it can increase the risk of tooth decay and tooth pain or even affect the bite. That's why it is recommended to only have porcelain veneers placed by someone with specialized expertise like Dr. Tucker.

How long do porcelain veneers last?

Many patients can expect their porcelain veneers to last up to 10 – 15 years or longer with good oral hygiene and regular dental checkups at Elite Smiles of Pflugerville.

Does getting porcelain veneers hurt?

No, most patients don't find the procedure to have porcelain veneers placed painful or even uncomfortable. Dr. Tucker only has to remove a very small amount of enamel to apply the veneers. After the procedure is finished, some patients may experience mild tooth sensitivity as their teeth adjust, but this is usually temporary and goes away quickly. If you are worried about pain, talk to Dr. Tucker during your consultation about available treatment options.

Is there any special care for porcelain veneers?
No, there isn't. You simply brush and floss normally while remembering to schedule your regular dental checkups at Elite Smiles of Pflugerville. You can prolong the life of your porcelain veneers and avoid damage by not chewing on hard objects with the teeth with the veneers.
